How InkBlossom Grew from Two Friends Talking on the Phone to a Business Helping Others Start Their Journey
Two women in different towns, showing up for each other every week—me with a notebook full of business ideas and a passion for writing, and Candy with a camera and a creative eye for photography. We didn’t set out to start a business—we simply met to encourage each other in our creative pursuits. But looking back, the signs we were ready to start a business were already there. We just didn’t know it yet.
But the signs were there. We just didn’t realize it yet.
1. We Couldn’t Stop Thinking About It
Even when we weren’t meeting, we’d text back and forth about projects, ideas, and “what if” dreams. We talked about building something of our own someday, but didn’t know what that looked like. Then someone asked if we could help with some writing—and that’s when it clicked.
We didn’t realize it at the time, but constantly talking, texting, and brainstorming business ideas was a strong sign we were ready. Research shows that when an idea keeps showing up in your thoughts, it’s often your mind’s way of telling you it’s time to act (Shepherd et al., 2011).
Candy had a background in marketing, and I had years of writing experience. It wasn’t just a request—it was a nudge.
2. We Were Tired of Waiting for the Perfect Time to Start a Business
We had every reason to pause. We both had full lives—family responsibilities, 9-5 jobs, and all the real-world reasons to keep it a “someday” idea. But the pull kept getting stronger. And we realized: the longer we waited, the more it hurt to stay still.
So we said yes. To a small project. Then another. Then a bigger one.
3. We Were Already Helping Others Without Realizing It
People came to us for writing, content, websites, marketing, and social media advice. It was second nature to us, but valuable to them. We weren’t just doing work—we were guiding. Teaching. Lifting. And that lit something in both of us.
4. We Craved Something That Was Ours
Working behind the scenes on other people’s brands taught us what we loved most: the strategy, the creativity, the way words and visuals work together to grow a dream. We started learning everything we could about SEO, web traffic, and the ever-changing world of social media.
And through it all, the idea kept forming. Quietly. Steadily.
5. We Were Scared—But Still Curious
Founding InkBlossom was equally terrifying and thrilling. We didn’t have all the answers, but we had each other—and a growing passion to help women just like us: starting something new, unsure where to begin, but deeply ready.
Today, our work is about more than content or websites. It’s about mentoring women ready to stop waiting and start building. We share tips, encouragement, and honest conversations to help others launch their unique dreams—because we’ve been there.
And we believe in what can happen when you start… even if you don’t feel quite ready.
